The
Issues
Ethics. Hudson County government is an embarrassment
to New Jersey. Six Jersey City employees were arrested, one
State Assemblyman, and the Commissioner of New Jersey Community
Affairs – formerly of Bayonne – was asked to resign
amidst the largest anti-corruption sting in state history. Should
any elected official resign, the Hudson County Democratic Organization
will personally choose his or her replacement, thus perpetuating
the cycle of abuse and deceit.
As a newcomer, I refuse to accept this sorry state of affairs.
Hudson County deserves better government than it has so far
received: clean, ethical and transparent government. Join
me and other independent candidates in eliminating corrupt
government and introducing positive change.
Education. The district’s public education
system is broken. Charter schools by far are the most successful
educational choices, by providing parents and students with
quality education at a fraction of the cost of regular public
schools. I will work with Trenton to promote charter schools
as a viable alternative to costly and inefficient public schooling.
All children in this district, regardless of ethnicity or
income should be provided with a quality education that will
prepare them for the future.
Economy. Under the incumbents’ watch,
Hudson County’s unemployment rate has almost doubled
since 2007, jumping from 5.3% to 10.3%. Drastic action is
needed to bring jobs and employment back to District 31. This
includes cutting the costs of doing business in Hudson County,
attracting employers, expanding local industries, streamline
state requirements for small businesses and promote this area
as a great place to do business.
